Auguste Dumont

Augustin-Alexandre Dumont known as Auguste or Augustin Dumont , French sculptor, was born with Paris in 1801; he dies in this same city in 1884. He is the son of the sculptor Jacques-Edme Dumont.

Biography

Raise Cartellier, it gains Large the Prix of Rome of Sculpture in 1823, jointly with Francisque Duret, a low-relief having for subject Douleur of Évandre over the body of his/her son Pallas . He is the author, in Paris, of the statue Napoleon in César (1863) which surmounts the column of the Place Vendôme and of the Spirit of the Liberty (1835) surmounting the Colonne of July on the Place of the Bastille .

He is received with the Institut of France in 1838 and taught with the École of the Art schools of 1853 with his death.
