Auguste Charlois
Auguste Honore Charlois (November 26th 1864 - March 26th 1910) is a Astronome French, mainly known for the discovery of 99 Astéroïde S whereas he worked with the Observatoire of Nice.
It is born with Cadière-with Azure in the Var.
Its first discovered is that of (267) Tirza in 1887. He also discovered (433) Eros the same night as Gustav Witt but he did not announce it rather quickly before Witt does not do it.
He begins his career at the time of the visual detection of small planets. But in 1891, max Wolf opened the way with the use of the Astrophotographie which clearly increases the rate of detection of the asteroids, which allows Wolf and Charlois to discover some much more than they could not by visual detection.
At the 46 years age it is killed by the brother of his first wife, who him wanted some to be herself remarié. His/her brother-in-law was condemned to the forced labors with perpetuity in New Caledonia.
The Astéroïde (1510) Charlois bears its name.
