Auguste Bravais

Auguste Bravais , born with Annonay the August 23rd 1811 and died in the Chesnay the March 30th 1863, is a French, famous physicist in particular for its work in Cristallographie (networks of Faced and Lois of Faced).

He makes his studies with Paris with the Collège Stanislas, then with the Polytechnic school in 1829. Large adventurer, he becomes naval officer and embarks on the Finistere in 1832, then on the Loiret . He collaborates in work of Hydrographie along the coasts Algérie. He takes part in the forwarding of the Recherche , sent to the Spitzberg and in Lapland to the help of the Lilloise .

He professes a course of mathematics applied to astronomy with the Faculty of Science of Lyon starting from 1840 and succeeds Victor the Knight the pulpit of physics of the Polytechnic school between 1845 and 1856, date on which he is replaced by Henri Hureau de Senarmont. He publishes a report treating of Cristallographie in 1847. Cofounder of the weather Company, it succeeds Albin Reine Roussin with the Academy of Science in 1854.
