Auguste Borget

Auguste Borget , born with Issoudun the August 28th 1808 and deceased with Bourges (1, rue de l'Equerre), the October 25th in 1877 is a painter French.

Friend of Balzac and Zulma Carraud (ref. correspondence of Zulma Carraud), Balzac dedicated to him in 1836 the novel: the Mass of the Atheist .

Borget is a painter traveller having traversed since 1833, Switzerland and Italy. In 1836 it went on a journey around the world which lasted four years. He will visit Americas of the Northern and the Southern and the Pacific Ocean (islands Sandwich) then the Asia, with Philippines, China, the Indies from where he brought back many drawings and watercolours.

He publishes several collections of engravings, in particular China and the Chinese , open China , Fragments of a voyage around the world , Art in province , etc Towards 1850, he withdraws world somewhat and becomes extremely pious.

Part of its great paintings was destroyed by a fire, its oils are rare. One can see them in the museums of HongKong, Macao, Honolulu, Miami, Peabody museum Salem, in France: Bourges, Chateauroux, Sevres, Issoudun. Collections private (HSBC, Mr. and Mrs. Giordana…)

A series of tables were exposed to the living rooms of:

1843: Street of Cleave in Calcutta.
1845: Chinese bridges, Sight of Rio de Janeiro.
1847: Sight of Notre-Dame de Gloire in Rio de Janeiro.
1849: Caramanserail in Delhi.
1859: Surroundings of Dordrecht.
