About a proposal like Large Cross of the Legion of honor
“I am quite grateful with Mister the Marshal and you of this testimony of regard and benevolence. I am very touched by it and my thanks are quite sincere but I had an absolute rule not to accept null honorary distinctions as long as I will not feel to weigh on me the double capitulation of Sedan and of Paris. I made give some Large Crosses to my lieutenants during the Siège of Paris. I always refused it for me. I also refused the Military decoration given by Mister Thiers which had included/understood me in the same decree with Chanzy. I primarily make a point of maintaining this situation. ”
retirement of the general Ducrot
The standpoint of the Ducrot general, as a deputy in the monarchical Question makes that it is allowed in the reserve of the general staff on February 24th ((1882)) whereas the law of March 13rd ((1875)) allowed of its maintenance in unbounded activity of age to have rendered services eminent and by exerting with distinction in front of the enemy the functions of:- Commander-in-chief of an army made up of several army corps (day of September 1st with Sedan) engagements in front of Paris at the time of the battle of Champigny.
- Commander-in-chief of an army corps made up of several divisions of various armies (1st army corps of Trawl-nets from August 17th to August 31st, 13th and 14th army corps from September 16th to November 7th, 1870)
