August Wilhelm Zumpt

August Wilhelm Zumpt (December 4th 1815 with Königsberg - April 22nd 1877) was scholastique and German Latinist, nephew of Karl Gottlob Zumpt.

August Wilhelm studied with Berlin, and in 1851 became professor of the Friedrich Wilhelm Gymnasium.

Its work on the Latin epigraphy, gathered in Commentationes epigraphicae, (1850-1854), was worth to him discussions tended with Theodor Mommsen whereas this last prepared the Corpus inscriptionum latinarum .
