August Wilhelm Eichler

August Wilhelm Eichler is a German Botaniste , born the April 22nd 1839 in Neukirchen in the Hesse and dead the March 2nd 1887 with Berlin.

He studies the Mathématiques and the Natural history at the university of Marbourg and obtains his doctorate in 1861. He settles then with Munich where he becomes the assistant of Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius (1794-1868).

He worked on the symmetry of the floral system and develops a system of classification which will be used as a basis for work of Adolf Engler (1844-1930) and will be largely adopted by the European botanists.
