August Bebel
August Bebel , born with Deutz (close to Cologne) the February 22nd 1840 and dead the August 13rd 1913, was a German Artisan become Politician.
Biography
The mother become widowed turned over to her family to Wetzlar. Bebel learned the trade from turner. After the Trade-guild, it founded a small company (a Artisanat) of turning to Leipzig. It took part in associations of the companions and worked for the education of the workmen.
In 1867, with Wilhelm Liebknecht, it founded the Sächsische Volkspartei ( Saxon Popular party ), then the SDAP ( Sozialdemokratische Arbeiterpartei , social democrat Parti the German workers , in 1869, which became the SPD in 1890.
He was imprisoned several times like socialist agitator. He used this time for intensive studies like the history of the Islamic states. In 1884, it published „Die mohammedanisch-arabische Kulturperiode “, a plea for the dialog of the cultures. Appointed with the Reichstag, he was shown of high treason to have refused to vote the appropriations of the war in 1871.
Author of the woman and socialism (1883) it had a controversy with Irish James Connolly on this subject.
After the death of Wilhelm Liebknecht in 1900, he became president of the Social democrat Party (SPD).
