Auffargis

Auffargis is a common French, located in the department of the Yvelines and the area Île-de-France.

Its inhabitants names the Fargussiens .

Geography

Located in north-eastern edge of the Forest of Rambouillet, Auffargis is a large village, to 11 km of Rambouillet.
It belongs to the Regional natural park of the High-Valley of Chevreuse and the Communauté of communes of the Ponds.

the hamlet of Saint-Beno4it cheese is located at the south-east of the commune, with approximately 4 kilometers of the center of the village.
the locality of “the Sand pit” is an old sand pit, now Sunday place of relaxation, very attended in summer by the families of the neighbouring communes.

Principal events

The festival of the village takes place at the end of June each year. It is the occasion to draw a Fireworks.

In spring each year a fair with the plants takes place, the Festival of the Plants. Becoming extensive, the demonstration, which initially took place with the rural household of the village, since 2000 in one of the farms of the Saint-Beno4it cheese hamlet moved.

Since 2003, Auffargis is the starting point and of arrival of a race of endurance, the Trail of the Vallée de Chevreuse, particularly famous for its profile in " tooth of scie" , alternating strong coasts and abrupt descents with very little dish. The edition 2006 proposed two routes of 16 and 53 km.
