According to the book The Puts for Reincarnation written by Joe Fisher, the history of Audrey Rose would be inspired by a real event lived by Frank de Felitta, author of the original novel and scenario writer of film. One day, at his place, he intended an expert hand to play piano of the airs of ragtime since his living room. Which was not its surprise to note that it was his/her own 6 years old son, who had never received course of music. " My fingers move all alone, dad! " he says the boy. " Isn't this marvellous? "
