The Audi A3 is a Automobile Bicorps of luxury built by Audi since 1996. The current version goes back to 2003. It uses a5 platform of the group VAG which it shares with the Audi TT II , the Volkswagen Golf V , the Skoda Octavia II , the Seat Leon II .
Version 2003
With the International fair of the car of Geneva of 2003, Audi lance its new generation of the A3 , it standard 8P, drawn by Walter de' Silva. For this new launching it inaugurates the platform A5 group and is motorized exclusively by four-cylinder motors. The cockpit is redrawn and more roomy than on the old version and the engines use technology FSI ( Fuel Stratified Injection ) house and are coupled with a box with 6 reports/ratios (except the version 1.6L).
In the middle of the year the 2003 range is packed of two sporting models, a 2.0L Turbo FSI of 200ch and for the first time a 3.2 VR6 of 250 ch. La transmission Quattro and the automatic box with double clutch S-Tronic (identical to box DSG of Volkswagen) are available on all the models starting from 140 ch (the version V6 is Quattro out of standard).
In 2005, the S-Line completion, with new decorative accessories, becomes available on certain versions, and A3 receives the same grill as Sportback. April 2006 sees the arrival of a more powerful Diesel engine, the 2.0L TDI of 170 ch
Motorizations
End 2006, left the S3 version, with a 2.0L Turbo FSI pushed with 265 CH (the critical parts, the rods in particular were reinforced). It settles like the most powerful engine of the range 2.0L. For reference, one finds this engine Turbo in the Volkswagen Golf GTI (200 CH), and in the Seat León Cupra (240 CH). The version resting on the engine 3,2L V6 of 250 horses is now regarded as more “middle-class” that sporting.
The 2.0 FSI developing 150 ch was replaced with the beginning of the year 2007 by one 1.8 TFSI of 160 ch. A new engine gasoline, in fact one 1.4 TSi of 125 ch, will appear in September 2007 in Germany then, doubtless, in the rest of Europe.
The versions diesel rest now on a 1.9L of 105 ch in line entry followed by a 2.0L available in 140 CH and 170 ch.
