Aubure
Aubure is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.
Geography
Aubure is the highest commune of the Massif of the Vosges located at more than 800 meters of altitude and is between the villages of Sainte Marie-with-Mines, Fréland and Ribeauvillé. The village is located on a projecting ledge in the shape of basin dominating the plain of Alsace with worms Is the village of Ribeauvillé, towards the south with Fréland, Lapoutroie, Orbey, Kaysersberg etc, and towards north with Sainte Marie-with-Mines.

Armorial bearings
The armorial bearings of Aubure are of money to a cock of heather to the naturalness posed on a mount of three coupeaux of sinople. Three coupeaux greens represent the three valleys of Sainte Marie-with-Mines, Lapoutroie, and Ribeauvillé, in the center of which Aubure is. The Coq of heather is an animal which was formerly frequent in the area, but which today is in process of extinction.
Origin of the name
Called before Xe century " Altvillare " who comes from German " Alt" and villare of Latin who wants to say " ferme" , then Altweiler when the seigniory of Riquewihr becomes owner of the places. Aubure is quoted in 1217 under the term in Alburiis meaning white sources. It is also known around 1300 under the name of Altpur such as that appears in a charter of the Abbaye of Pairis.
History
Aubure belongs initially to the seigniory of Riquewihr. The village passes then to the Count S of Horbourg, then it is repurchased by the counts of Wurtemberg in 1324. Towards 1472 the commune includes/understands 14 farms which belong in stronghold to the lord of Riquewihr which associated a baillif to charge with recovering the taxes paid generally in kind. The Réforme is introduced as of 1536 and the first protesting temple is built in 1556 which was located at the place where is today the Berthel house. In 1635, the community of Aubure is decimated by the plague. Destroyed during the War Thirty Year old, the emigration of a population Welsch, Romance language and Religion Catholique is highly encouraged. The rare farmers still in life engage of the servants and the servants originating in Fréland, Lapoutroie and Orbey which speaks the Welche. But with the mixed marriages between Alsatian and Welche S the bilingism settles little by little. The church which had been confiscated by the Protestants is returned in 1685 with the Catholics. At the beginning of the XVIIIe century the village falls to Anne of Wurtemberg, then it is put under sequestration by the King of France Louis XIV. The dukes of Wurtemberg recover in 1759 the village and preserve it until the Revolution. In 1827 the Consistoire of Riquewihr decided to name a Pasteur in Aubure which is at the same time teacher. It is in a house going back to 1731 that was arranged the school and the presbytery. In 1828 the Protestant temple was added to this building, the unit then recovering only one and even surmounted roof of a bell-tower. From 1891 the Protestants will lay out their clean Cimetière and new a Presbytère was high in 1895.
This village of mountain saw primarily agriculture and starting from the XIXe century of agriculture and the Tissage in residence on behalf of the industrialists of Sainte Marie-with-Mines. Its climate is favourable with the installation of Sanatorium. Since the end of the XXe century the country holidays develop successfully. The situation of Aubure priviligié as of the end of the XIXe century the installation of second home. There currently exists in Aubure two great centers of Cure (Muesberg and Salem) the first being located on the grounds which are common with Ribeauvillé and the second on that of Fréland, although located very close to Aubure.
