Aubigné (Two-Sevres)

Aubigné is a common French, located in the department of the Two-Sevres and the area Poitou-Charentes.
Geography
The commune of Aubigné has a massive form which fits in a circle of 8 km diamètre.Aubigné is in the transitory area between the the Limousin and Gâtine Vendean in the south of the Seuil of Poitou, with the northern limit of the Charente-native plains . It is a corrugated plate whose altitude varies between 100 and 159 m which overhangs the valley of the Boutonne. This area of hills is slightly dug by a soft inclined depression along a synclinal axis NO-SE which finishes in bottom of bag on several ramifications in the shape of vineleaf. This valley leads to the basin of the Aume, small river tributary of the Charente, taking its source with Bouin (Two-Sevres).
This plate of sedimentary origin is consisted a powerful unit where alternate on a thickness from 25 to 30 m of the lithographic limestone benches and thin layers of marl. This fissured limestone is a genuine reserve which supplies the wells in their restoring throughout the year the water stored at the time of the rainy periods, of the autumn to the printemps.
In period of low water level, there does not exist permanent river, but as of at the end of November, water goes up in the wells which overflow. Several sources leave the bottom of the small valleys then to feed a network of ditches which drain, spring waters and rain water towards the seasonal brook: " Couture" , affluent of the Aume. Before work of regrouping and the overdeepening of the ditches, the zones in lower part of dimension 107, flooded during several spring and winter months (sometimes until June).
Ground known as of " groie" is of a color brown, sometimes yellowish, according to its content of clay. It is a light ground, rather rich in organic matters, which fears the dryness. Of a very low thickness on the hills, it is quickly crossed by the too optimistic plowman who scrapes the bed rock and broad plaques.

History
Origins
The name of Aubigné (Albign = Gentilice Albinius or Albinus + acum = Gallo-Roman suffix which indicates a field) appears for the first time in the deed of the gift which Cadelon makes, Viscount of Aulnay, with the clunisienne abbey of Montierneuf with Poitiers in 1081. This gift includes/understands the church ( Ecclésia de Albignacum ), its priory and various rights of pasture in the forest of Aulnay. But the village is probably much older because we know that the battle that delivered the armies of Foulques Réchin the angevin and of GUI Geffroy (Guillaume VI of Poitiers, Duc of Aquitaine), the March 21st 1061, leads to the destruction of the borough which was with the Borough-Bloody locality . Village which had certainly been established around an old Roman villa because several shards of tégulae and imbrices were found there.The current village is with the crossroads of the roads which carry out of Aulnay to Chief-Buttons and of Sourness with Brioux-on-Buttons. At the time the area is covered by the Grande Forest of Argenson which goes from the Forest of Benon at the border of the Marsh to the forests of Tusson and of Boixe in Charente. Fleury ( villa and ecclesiam of Floric in 1081, Eccl. Albinec and Florec in 1157) and its district of Chicornerie whose origin is probably Gallic (Celtic Chil which gave chilos = house, hamlet). Placed on a height and at the edge of the way which carries out of Aulnay to Chief-Buttons.

the Bush ( bush ) district of Semoussais with horse on 3 communes, which is located on a headland at the crossroads of the way of La Rochelle and way of Romazières, one of the old ways of Saint-Jacques-with-Compostelle.

Bret (inventory of the house Brez in 1313, Brest in 1457, Brectz in 1460 & 1487, etc) is a Celtic toponym of origin ( bré = hill, hillock into Breton + the finales St, tz, ctz … indicate a collective space). Finally Nanteuil ( Nanto-ialos = cultivated clearing) and Balet ( Baled = small rudimentary hangar) is Celtic toponyms which are near the hamlet.

the Step of Thatches : the January 22nd 1481 Mr. de Montbron concedes with the brothers Alain and Etienne Beaumont 8 newspapers to be taken on the forest of Chief-Buttons.
- Wood-Giffard is created by Jean Coudray known as " Génicot" with which Mr. de Montbron concedes in February 1481 four newspapers of ground, to take at the end on forest on the way of Bret with Romazières, it can build a house with four spans there.
- Prémorin is conceded in Jean Daniau and Jean Bouyneau the December 2nd 1484.
