Aubazine
Aubazine is a common department of the Corrèze, in the area the Limousin, in France.
Sometimes spelled Aubazines , with an S final. This S final is a transcription error, on a chart which was, and which is always repeated.
Geography
Commune perched on a headland in edge of the Corrèze and crossed by the Coiroux.
The puy of Pauliac (524 m) is the culminating point of the area.
History
Formerly spelled Obazine . Before the Révolution Obazine belonged to the commune of Cornil.

Abbey church and monastic buildings of the old founded abbey Cistercienne in 1142, (cupboard in oak of XIIe S (it would be the oldest piece of furniture of France), stalls of XVIIe, tomb of St Etienne of XIIIe,…) by Etienne Saint, first abbot.
- Vestiges of the female monastery of the Coyroux.
- Channel of the monks, dating from the 12th century a length of 1,7km approximately, built to feed the monastery and the village.
- Dolmen of Rochesseux (site of the megaliths)
- Cromlech of Puy de Pauliac (site of the megaliths)
- Rock of the jump of the shepherdess (who dominates the channel of the monks), 70 m high rock face from where a shepherdess would have thrown itself to escape dishonor.
- tourist Center and lake of the Coiroux.
- Adventure Park, golf of 18 holes and camp-site, located in the tourist center of Coiroux.
Personalities related to the commune
Born with Albignac, on August 22nd 1865, deceased on November 18th 1957 with Aubazine .After studies of right, it acquired in 1890 the study of Master Brugeille, notary with Aubazine .
Elected official Mayor of this commune on May 3rd 1890, (it will remain it until the Libération in August 1944), then elected general adviser of Beynat on July 25th 1909.
Candidate radical socialist in the district of Brive-South to the legislative elections of April 22nd, 1928, it was elected with the second turn in front of Joseph Escande.
He was registered with the group Radical-socialiste and was elected at the commission of Work.
It was interested particularly in the questions of the War and of the work of the country world, also on the project tending to amend the law of April 25th 1928 intervened on the Social Security (beginning of the current Social security).
He was the author of a private bill tending to make more rigorous the examination of notary, by amending the law of the 25 ventôse of year XI instituting this examination.
In 1937, Jean-Baptiste Laumond was named by the President of the Republic, Albert Lebrun, Viguier of Andorre, function of which it will be dislocated in 1940 by the government of the marshal Pétain. He was officer of the Légion of honor.
