Attnang-Puchheim
Attnang-Puchheim is an Austrian city located in High-Austria in the district of Vöcklabruck. In 2001, Attnang-Puchheim counted 9266 inhabitants.

The official description of the blazon of Attnang-Puchheim, whose colors are mainly of mouth, gold and azure, is: „Geteilt und halbgespalten ; oben in Gold über roten Flammen ein schwarzer, flugbereiter Phönix; unten rechts in Blau eine goldene heraldische Lilie, unten links dreimal von Silber und Belch gespalten. “ (“Separated and divided into two; with the chief, on a bottom of gold, a sand phoenix ready to fly, above the flames of mouth; with the point, a flower of gold lily on bottom of azure to dextral, and blade of money and mouth to sinistral. ”)
the history
The foundation of Attnang and Puchheim started at the end of the 8th century and lasted until the end of the 11th century. A long time, people made a distinction between Attnang and Puchheim, but since 1912 the name was changed and Attnang-Puchheim was born.
In 1586, the castle “Schloss Puchheim” was built which now is used as monastery and belongs to the “Redemptoristen”. Maria Antonia of Bourbon-Parma and Rene of Bourbon-Parma are buried in the vault of the castle, dedicated to Saint-Georges.
In 1877, the railway line named Salzkammergutbahn, which contributed to the development of the village, was built. Attnang-Puchheim and Salzkammergutbahn was bombarded at the end of the Second world war, more precisely on April 21st, 1945. After the war, Attnang-Puchheim was rebuilt and became very famous because of its station. The majority of the trains must stop there in order to change there engine, the electrification finishing in Attnang-Puchheim. In 1955, the small village became a “Markt” (gone) and in 1990 it obtained the statute of city.
Means of transport
Train
The line of the west passes by Attnang-Puchheim, which confers on the city a regional radiation. The station gets moreover an access to the line of the Salzkammergut which connects the district of Gmunden to the Styrie (station of Stainach-Irdning) and to the line of Ried im Innkreis. These railway connections make of Attnang-Puchheim a railway crossroads, where the trains InterCity also mark stops. The ways are currently in the course of repair.
Road links
The Bundesstrasse 1 , parallel with the highway of the west (A1), which connects Salzburg to Vienna, crosses the canton. Moreover, approximately 8 km in the south of the downtown area the by-pass of insertion of Regau lead to the highway of the west.
Bus
One can also go in the neighbouring communes by the lines of bus. In addition to the line of Vöcklabruck, Schörfling amndt Attersee and Schwanenstadt, Attnang-Puchheim is served by “City Bus” and a service says “City Taxi”.
