Attack of the station of Bologna

The attack of the station of Bologna (known in Italy like the strage di Bologna , is the massacre of Bologna ) is one of the most important terrorist activities which touched Italy during the Années of lead. The attack made 85 dead and wounded more than 200 people in the station of Bologna the August 2nd 1980, with 10:25. Members of a group of extreme right-hand side were condemned for the attack.

Attack

The August 2nd 1980, with 10:25, the station of Bologna, a Bombe left in the waiting room explodes. It kills 85 people and wounds some more than 200, then leaving or to return from summer holidays.

The station was almost completely destroyed and a train for reversed Chiasso.

As of the event, the government of Francesco Cossiga and the police force supposed that it was about an terrorist activity carried out by the red Brigades (Br), terrorist group of extreme left. But the investigation proceeds nevertheless in several directions and finally will be directed towards the mediums of extreme right-hand side.

The investigation will last almost fifteen years and only thanks to the force and to the courage of the families of the victims, the lawsuit will go in its term.

The November 23rd 1995 the court decides following judgments:

the material executors of the attack (the néonazis Valerio Fioravanti and Francesca Mambro) are condemned to the prison with perpetuity;
the judgment for obstruction with the investigation for Licio Gelli, large-Master of the maconnic cabin Propaganda Due (P2), Francesco Pazienza and two officers of SISMI: Pietro Musumeci and Giuseppe Belmonte.

The August 2nd is regarded in Italy as the day of the memory of all the terrorist massacres.

So that the memory is not erased, the rebuilding of the station envisaged the safeguard of the hole caused by the explosion in the waiting room and even that of the clock, which still indicates 10:25.

Discusses

Attempts at obstruction to the investigation on behalf of certain dispensaries will feed from many theories conspirationnists on an implication of the secret services. The peripheral implication of the Cabin P2 which was concerned with the investigation, encouraged some to denounce an attack radio-controlled by the organization Gladio, within the framework of a Stratégie of the tension worked out by certain secret services of the the United States. This polemical theory was not retained by the justice, which condemned a simple terrorist group.
