Atrax robustus

The Atrax robustus , a Australian Spider found close to Sydney, is undoubtedly most famous mygale of the group of the Hexathelidae. The female can reach up to 7 cm length, when with the male, it hardly measures more than 5,5 cm. It occupies mainly of the already formed holes (cracks, spaces under rocks) a depth of about thirty centimetres. However, having powerful Chélicère S being able to reach 5 mm, it can just as easily build its own habitat. This mygale nourishes primarily large insects, and even of other spiders. This spider with the very aggressive behavior is dangerous only for the primates and the men, the majority of the other animals being immunized against its toxins. The venom of the male is approximately five times more toxic than that of the female.
