The company employs 50.000 people in 40 countries, mainly the France, the Netherlands, the Spain and the the United Kingdom. It is the world data-processing partner of the Olympic Games and counts among its customers of international large accounts in all the branches of industry.

History
History of Atos
- 1962 : Creation of the Data-processing Cegos company.
- 1970 : Creation of the software firm Sliga, subsidiary of the Crédit Lyonnais.
- 1972 : Birth of Sligos by the fusion of Cegos Data-processing and Sliga. Sligos then becomes a software firm specialized in the solutions of payments which will take part in the installation of the Credit card.
- 1976 : Creation of Segin (New Data-processing Management and Survey firm) per Georges Leblon.
- 1981 : Creation of the software firm Sodinforg.
- 1991 : Birth of Axime by the fusion of Segin, SITB and Sodinforg.
- 1997 : Birth of Atos by the fusion of Axime and Sligos.
- 1999 : Aquisition d' Odysée, division council of Atos takes then the name of Atos Odysée.
History of Origin
- 1976 : Creation of BSO by the businessman Dutch Eckart Wintzen.
- 1990 : BSO amalgamates Philips Communications ISA, one of the data-processing entities of the giant of Philips electronics to form BSO/Origin .
- 1996 : Creation of Origin B.V. by the fusion of BSO and Philips Communications C&P.
History of Sowed Group
- 1958 : Creation of the first French software firm: Sowed (Company of Economy and Mathematics Applied) by 3 former students of the polytechnic school: Jacques Lesourne, Marcel Loichot and Robert Slats. The activity of Sema concentrates on the development of applications for operations research and the economy applied using data processing.
- 1965 : Sowed founds a services company intended for the system development for the companies, the BAGS (Company of analysis and design of systems) directed by Jean Carteron, which will found later 4 years the software firm Steria
- the Seventies: The group takes the name of Sow-Measured
- 1975: Sow-measured and cgi creates the method of modeling Merise
- 1979: Creation of the British software firm CAPE Scientific (or Cape Group) by 4 colleagues of Scicon, subsidiary of the group BP
- 1988: The French software firm Sow-Measured amalgamates with the British Cape Scientific/Cape Group to form Sema Group , an important software firm européeenne (n°2 in Europe at the end of the years 1980)
- 1989: Acquisition of the German company ADV/Orga .
- 1990 : Acquisition of 49% of the Tibet services company, specialized in the systems for the purse and financial world
- 1991: Creation of a joint venture with British Aerospace and Sema: British Aerospace SOWED (BAeSEMA)
- 1992: France Telecom becomes shareholder of Sowed Group
- 1993: Acquisition of the activities of integration of the Swedish company SKD Foretagen ab
- 1994: Acquisition of Contacts (management company of equipment of purchasing cards and fidelity) and of the French software firm Aera
- 1995: Capgemini sells the minority interest of 27% which it holds in Sema Group since the end of the year 1980
- 1995: Acquisition of 51% of the capital of the software firm Progénia (France) and of Paradigm (South Africa)
- 1996: Acquisition of Datashield (United Kingdom), Mouncey & Associates (Kingdom Plain), of 75% of the services company Infoservicios , of Syntax Processing (outsourcing activities of Olivetti in Europe), and of Telis (subsidiary of integration of system of the France Telecom group)
- 1997: Acquisition of Br Business System (United Kingdom) and of Devotech (France)
- 1998: Sells its participation in the BaeSEMA joint-venture in Britisch Aerospace
- 1998 sowed: Sowed becomes the person receiving benefits of systems integration for the Olympic Games over the period 2002-2008 in the place of IBM.
- 1999 : Acquisition of Servicios (Argentinian), Informatica Techlogica , of DS Telematica (Italy)
- 2000: Acquisition of DSI , services company in the field of the Internet in Spain
- 2000: Acquisition of LHS , supplier of software of telephone invoicing for operators, 3,3 billion dollars. This operation will be very expensive for the group and this supplier will be resold.
- 2001 : The group of oil services Schlumberger already present in the data processing departments in the field of energy, acquires for 5,2 billion dollars Sema Group , while hoping to release from strong synergies and to integrate Sema in broad ranges of services. The group takes the name of SchlumbergerSema . The new company then counts 31.000 employees in the world and then has the 6th place of the software firms in France.
- 2002 : SchlumbergerSema yields its activities of computing systems for defense (GMBH Sowed and Sowed Computer Systems GMBH) to Thalès
History of Atos Origin
- October 31st, 2000: Atos Origin is born from the fusion between Atos and Origin. Philips then holds 49% of the capital of the company
- August 2002: Atos Origin acquires divisions of KPMG Consulting with the the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
- January 29th, 2004: Atos Origin acquires for 1,4 Mds, SchlumbergerSema , software firm resulting from the repurchase by Schlumberger from Sowed Group in 2001, and whose integration within the data processing departments of the Schlumberger group as effective as was not awaited. Atos reinforces its place in Europe thus. The manpower of the group is almost doubled, the sales turnover of the new entity is multiplied by 1,5. Atos Origin reinforces considerably its place with the United Kingdom and its wallet of customers in the public sector, finance, and telecommunications.
- 2001 : Acquisition of KPN Datacenter for 163 million euros
- 2004: Atos Origin creates a new subsidiary company: Atos Worldline.
- 2004 : Atos Origin gives up the mark KPMG for its consulting subsidiary company, with the profit of the name Atos Consulting.
- 2004 : Philips yields part of the capital which it still holds in the group. Its share is from now on of 16,5%.
- March 2004: The head office moves of the Netherlands towards Zaventem in Belgium.
- October 2004: Atos Origin Australia, resulting from the activities of Philips Communications, is sold with Fujitsu.
- May 2005: Atos Origin sells its subsidiary companies of Northern Europe (inherited the companies Philips C&P/Origin) with VM-Dated
- July 17th, 2006: Acquisition of Banksys and Bank Card Company (BCC), specialized companies in the solutions of payments and integrated since into Atos Wordline.
- October 2007: Nomination of Philippe Germond at the station of chairman.
- October 22nd, 2007: Sale of Atos Origin Middle East to HP.
