The Atlantic Coast Conference ( ACC ) is a grouping of twelve universities managing the competitions Sport ives in fifteen sports in the east of the the United States.
History
This conference was founded the June 14th 1953 by Clemson, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Virginia and Wake Forest. South Carolina leaves the conference in 1971. Georgia Tech joined the ACC in 1978, Florida State in 1991, Miami and Virginia Tech in 2004 then Boston College in 2005.The sports managed by this conference are the Baseball, Basket-ball, Cross country, Field hockey, American football, Golf, Crosse, Aviron, Softball, Natation and dive, Tennis, Athlétisme, Volley-ball and Lutte.
