Athyrium of the Alps
The Athyrium of the Alps ( Athyrium distentifolium ) is a Fougère of the family of the Dryopteridaceae and sometimes classified among the family of the Woodsiaceae according to the authors.
Another common noun: Alpine Athyrium.
Description
Athyrium of the Alps presents a port in rivet washer. The sling S measure from 30 to 150 cm and they are of dark green color. They are rigid and have a lancéolée form, narrowed at the base. They are divided twice (= bipennées). Secondary divisions have toothed lobes (the teeth are curved or directed towards the end of the lobe).The Pétiole is much shorter than the Limbe, it is thick and carries many scales.
The sores, related to the lower face of the sling S, are round. The sores are protected by tiny Indusie S on cilié board, falling very quickly.

Medium of life
Alpine Athyrium lives in the shaded stations with semi-shaded and wet. One meets it in the stages subalpine: in the mountain forests (Fir tree S, spruce S, Larch S, Beech S), wet meadows with tall grasses, fresh edges and rock wetlands.This Fern affectionate grounds more or less acid, movable and fresh, muddy or argillaceous. But generally, it is on stony grounds.
Geographical distribution
- French: Athyrium of the Alps is rather rare, it is a Fougère of mountain only that one finds until more than 2.000 Mr. It meets in the the Jura, the the Alps, the Massif Central, the the Pyrenees and in Corsica, rarer in the the Vosges.

European: This fern meets in all the mountainous solid masses of Europe. Also in Russia, Scotland and Ireland.
