Athletic Walk

The athletic walk is a discipline Sport ive which raises of the Athlétisme in which the volunteers must Marche R without never run, i.e. a foot at least must be permanently in contact with the ground while the Jambe of support must be right (not folded with the knee) since the moment when the foot touches the ground until it spends to the lower part of the body. Athletic walk is an Olympic discipline with tests disputed on 20 km (men and women) and 50 km (men only).

Competitions

The tests of athletic walk proceed on tracks in circuit, judges supervising the athletes to detect the infringements with the rules. The judges can leave the “red paperboards” to announce the infringements and, at the end of three infringements, a red pallet which means the disqualification of the interested party. The disqualifications are current in the races of elite. One of most notorious is that of the Australia Jane Saville, whereas it was at the head race to a hundred meters only of the arrival, at the time of the Olympic Games of summer of 2000.
