Athanase of Cart of Contrie

Athanase of Cart of Contrie , (1831-1911), is a French officer who was distinguished in defense from the States from the Pope and during the Guerre of 1870 to the head of the pontifical zouaves.

Great nephew of the knight of Cart, Athanase of Cart of Contrie, high in the memory of the wars of the Vendée, made a military career in Italy and Austria before ordering of 1860 to 1870 the pontifical zouaves, then to take part as brigadier general in the defense of France against the Prussian S in 1870.

Its Personality, like that of the General of Sonis at the sides of which it fights in 1870, marked durably the mediums legitimists French.
