History of the party

Following an open crisis with Jean-Marie Le Pen, the friends of Bruno Mégret had initially tried to take the control of the National front and had avoided being excluded about it, while organizing, the December 13rd 1998, a National council , whose regularity was disputed.

This " The Council national" of December 13rd, 1998, being based on a movement of petitions claiming the organization of a “ Congress of the unit ”, convened in its turn a Congrès of the National front , which was held with Marignane (Rhone delta) of the 23 to the January 25th 1999.

At the conclusion of this " Congress of the Face national" , the congressmen carried at their head Bruno Mégret as “a president of the National front”, and adopted a change of denomination for the movement: Face national national-Movement .

In May 1999, justice French, seized by Jean-Marie Le Pen, president of National front (called, to avoid any confusion, National front for the French unit), noted that the legal forms of convocation of a Congress of the movement were not joined together (the convocation of a Congress being a statutory prerogative of the only president, in whom the National council, purely advisory authority of the party, did not have any right), and noted consequently occasion that were null and not avenues all decisions including the National council of December 13rd, 1998 and those having followed (Congress of the National front, deposit of modifications of leaders and of change of status near a sub-prefecture of the Hauts-de-Seine, etc). In the urgency (approach of the European elections of June 1999), the new party of Bruno Mégret modified the heading of its list for the European elections by calling it National movement .

The formal creation of the new party will intervene starting from the October 2nd 1999, with La Baule, when the national committee votes the name change of the party in National republican movement , following what the legal formalities are filled.

Political line

Concerning France: The MNR aims to defend the French identity by defending its culture and its lifestyle what implies to slow down immigration.

Concerning Europe: The MNR wants to give a important role to France in Europe and to fight the European institutions which would reduce, according to him, Europe at a zone of free trade to the contempt of the social conventions of the European countries. It is accordingly a question of calling into question the institutions of the European Union which would take the step on the national parliaments which would become simple secretariat then stripped of any initiative.

Concerning safety: The MNR wants to restore the capital punishment, to set up a policy of " tolerance zéro" towards the delinquents and to expel the clandestine ones in irregular situation.

Concerning the family: The MNR wishes to give a dominating place to the family and to set up policies natalists.

The symbol of the party is a sheet of Chêne in a Tricolor. Its newspaper is called besides " Chêne".

MNR and FN with the last elections

December 20th, 2006, renonçant to arise itself, Bruno Mégret adopted the candidature of Jean-Marie Le Pen for the French presidential election of 2007, within the framework of a " Union of the patriotes" , each movement keeping its autonomy and its specificities. Bruno Mégret had already invited to vote for the president of the National front to the second turn of the French presidential election of 2002 where it had carried out 2,34% of the votes of vote at the time of the first turn. After the failure of Jean Marie Le Pen in 2007, Mégret is caught some highly in Marine Le Pen. For the legislative ones, no agreement being concluded with the FN, the MNR decides to introduce 379 candidates but in certain districts, the MNR chooses to support certain emblematic people of the right-hand side, of the FN like Gollnish, Dupont-Aignan (DLR), of the MPF like Besse, or candidates of Nissa Rebela (right identity), in order to create a true patriotic alliance.

In 2004, the movement counts 15.000 more members. ( Quid 2006)

In June 2007, the majority of its candidates are registered under the slogan “Against the immigration-Islamization-insecurity”. The MNR fails to reach the threshold of 50 candidates making more than 1% of expressed, all candidates MNR were eliminated; the MNR will thus have like elected officials only city council men, and some mayors, such as for example Herve Lahotte, mayor of Senuc, candidate on the lists of the MNR to legislative and senatorial partial of August 2007.
