At the drive-in
At the drive-in is a group Post-hardcore of El Paso with the Texas created in 1993 and separated in 2001.
The name of the group is drawn from the song “Talk dirty to me” of Poison.
Mainly influenced by groups like Fugazi and Drive Like Jehu, ATDI composed of the epic songs, post hardcore, to see same “stadium rock'n'roll”, with complex measurements and the enigmatic words.
Biography
The first recording studio of the group was entitled Hell Paso (Breed Western), a EP published in 1994. The reputation of their stage business, left mixture of salsa hardcore and of chaotic gesticulations allowed the group to survive its beginnings.Their first album, Acrobatic Teenement leaves in of 1994, recorded with very limited resources. Cedric Bixler is with the song, Omar Rodriguez with low, Ryan Sawyer with the battery, Jim Ward and Adam with the guitar. After a 3 months round, a new bass player and beater are recruited. ATDI acquires its final structure thus, Omar Rodriguez passing to the guitar, the new Paul Hinojos and Tony Hajjar with the battery. The recording of El Gran Orgo , 2nd EP with sonorities follows very Punk.
In 1998, they record In Casino Out , at Fearless, which marks the turning of the group. ATDI finds truly its style, namely an energetic, powerful but sincere rock'n'roll, with parts of guitars which pass very close to the experimental one, but keeping all their power. The album is a real success, and the members of ATDI pass then professional.
Their third EP Vaya leaves in 1999.
In 2000 leaves the album the dedication and the beginning of the end of the group, Relationship off Command , produced by Ross Robinson, with in particular Iggy Pop singing on " Rolodex Propaganda". The album is a world success, as well on the level of the sales as of criticisms; success which all the members do not like. For reasons related to this success, the group announces in 2001 a pause at unlimited duration, related to divergences of tastes as for next sonorities of ATDI.
Thus, in their will always to further test, Omar Rodriguez and Cedric Bixler create the side project then De facto , kind of rock'n'roll dub, which will give rise to the group The Mars Volta , kind of psyché and experimental Rock'n'roll, very different of ATDI. Jim Ward, Paul Hiojos and Tony Hajjar form as for them Sparta , with sonorities close to ATDI. By comparing sonorities of these two groups, the causes of Split are relatively obvious.
Thereafter, Paul Hinojos and Tony Hajjar will assemble Sparta of the indie rock'n'roll, with two other members. Three albums already appeared, of which Threes and most recent Porcelain.

Influences and Kind
The English group The Fall forms doubtless part of the greatest influences of the group. One could define their kind as punk very energetic, fast and emotional. Sometimes one associates them with the movement Emocore, doubtless because the height of the voice of Cedric and the choruses often stressed by a very powerful vocal backing (Jim).
