Asuka (in Japanese 明日香村, Asukamura) is a city of the center of the Préfecture of Nara (, naraken ), it was the political and cultural center of Japan during the Life and the 7th century, until the capital is transferred in 710 to Nara ().
One finds there the vestiges of many imperial palaces and Kofun ().
Asuka counts approximately 6  today; 600 inhabitants for a surface of 24 km ².
