Astronomical clock of Saint-Omer

The astronomical clock of Saint-Omer is a Horloge of 1558 which is in the basilica Notre-Dame of Saint-Omer.

Description

August 16th, 1555 that the chapter of collegial ordered from Pierre Enguerran, clock and watch maker audomarois, a clock to replace that existing in bad condition. It was to indicate: hours, days, months, signs of the zodiac, to raise it and lay down it the moon and sun. It was finished in 1558. In 1758 it was moved and installed in the northern transept of the basilica. It is remarkable for its precision, its very small number of parts moving (25 parts only are necessary to enable him to give all the indications ordered in 1555 with in more the position of the sun compared to the ground).
