Astrebla

Astrebla is a kind of the family of the Poaceae (Graminaceous) pushing in Australia. The species bear the name of fatty Mitchell (“grass of French Mitchell”) in the honor of the explorer who discovered it in the area of Bourke in 1835.

One finds it in the northern half of Australia, primarily with the Queensland, in the zones of annual pluviometry ranging between 250 and 550 mm with rains of summer.

It is a hardy perennial, from 30 to 90 centimetres in height living 20 to 30 years and giving seeds only two to three times in its existence.

It can be consumed by the cattle (sheep) and it is cultivated to this end.
