Astrakhan
Astrakhan (in Russian: Астрахань) is a town of Russia and the administrative center of the Oblast d' Astrakhan. It is located at the mouth of the the Volga, on the Caspian Sea. The city counts: 501300 inhabitants in 2005.
Astrakhan was, of 1466 with 1556, the capital of a Khanat (kingdom) Mongolian resulting from the bursting of the territory of the Horde of Gold. In 1554, the Russians conquer Khanat and install a khan marionette there. A revolt bursts, but it is repressed and the khanat is purely and simply annexed by Russia in 1556. In 1559, the province resists an attack of the khanat close to the Crimea.
With its wood houses, Astrakhan has paces of village. The delta of the Volga rich in fish, Astrakhan, is located on the delta, is a center of the industry of the Caviar. The many decayed factories which surround it, in particular of the pulp mills, play a big role in pollution, person in charge of the reduction in the number of the Esturgeon S of the Volga and its delta. This one, which extends on 10 670 km ², are inhabited only by a few thousands of fishermen and stockbreeders gathered in hamlets. It gave its name to the astrakhan (without " h"), a Fur of young lamb Karakul, and with a variety of Apple S, the red Astrakhan.
Astrakhan is also known to be the world capital of the caviar and its area is given many gas resources exploited by Gazprom, the largest employer regional.
