Associative cortex

The associative cortex indicates the area of the Cerveau implied in complex operations of Data processing. Contrary to other portions of the cerebral Cortex like the surfaces known as primary (sensory or driving), the functional role of the associative areas is more difficult to identify; it for example are implied in the process Cognitif S complexes related to:

  • the multisensorielle Integration which allows, for example, to associate a signal Visuel and a signal Auditif;
  • the Memory;
  • the Language;
  • Planning, etc

Contrary to other animals, the major part of the brain Humain makes up of associative cortex, in particular on the level of the frontal Lobe S and parietal.
