History

  • 1919-1945

Very old founded Lorraine club in 1919, the ACE Sarreguemines takes share with the very new championship of Lorraine in 1919-1920, within the Saar group in company of the US Forbach, the SR Sarrebourg, the S Merlebach, CS Stiring-Wendel and the Small-Roselle SSR. The ASS will continue to play on regional level until 1939 without managing to take down the championship of Lorraine. In July 1940, during the Second world war, the Moselle is annexed in Germany and more particularly to Gau Westmark with the Saar and Palatinat. The ASS must change name and is called from now on Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft (TSG) Saargemünd. At the conclusion of the season 1940-41, the TSGS gains its ticket for Gauliga Westmark (D1) at the same time as the FV Metz (FC Metz). The two clubs will represent Moselle-Lorraine then.

1941-42 are marked by the temporary arrival with the club (like Gastspieler , player invited in German) of international German Karl Striebinger, originating in Mannheim, and incorporated in the Wehrmacht. It is at the time of season 1943-44 that the ASS/TSGS will obtain its best classification (6th on 10 teams) and will be opposed to the prestigious clubs of the FC Saarbrucken, FC Metz, Borussia Neunkirchen and FC Kaiserlautern. The following season, Gauliga Westmark will be dissolved and Merlebach will make its return to French football.

  • 1945 - 2006

The ACE Sarreguemines will leave the regional context in 1982 after having acquired the championship of Lorraine at the time of the very last day of championship, under the direction of Emil Poklitar, 43 years a German trainer. Arrived at the club one year before, this last had revolutionized the spirits with Sarreguemines. German of Bukovine Rumanian, repatriated in GDR after the Second world war, Poklitar was a great hope, marker of goals of BFC Dynamo Berlin in 1960, before distorting company with the Communist regime. He was going to play for Freiburger FC and the 1.FC Saarbrucken between 1963 and 1970 before training the young people of the club of the Saar while being professor of sport. In love with a total football, it was going to adapt its trilogy rigor, discipline and intransigence with Sarreguemines.

Involving themselves hard and working their physics intensively three times per week, Sarregueminois were going to astonish supporters and observers, practitioner against for better surprising their adversaries. Being based on a rigorous defense (26 goals boxed in 26 meetings), Sarreguemines was also armed attacks some with the swift strikers Lotz and Bordé. All the team of the rise in the 3rd division was finally turned towards the offensive, for proof the 28 goals achieved by the players of field Gerolt, Groutsch, Levy, Chapira, Lohmann and Huth, supported by the Zairean ex-pro Kakoko (WM '74).
