Association of the professionals of information and documentation

The Association of the professionals of information and documentation is a French association law of 1901 created in 1963 to gather people working in the field of information-documentation (Documentaliste S, Bibliothécaire S). Called originally Association of the documentalists and specialized librarians (ADBS), it changed its official name while preserving the initials, under which it was known.

According to association, the ADBS counts nearly 5.000 members and is placed at the first European rank of associations of specialists in information.

Its missions are:

  • to develop the exchanges between professionals;

  • to promote and defend the profession;
  • to diffuse and develop the application of new technologies;
  • to contribute to the improvement of its members by the organization of days of studies and training courses;
  • to carry out many publications.

It is located at Paris, 25 r Claude Tillier in 12th.

Within the framework of its activities in information and documentation on electronic medium, the ADBS set up a group Content management.
