Association of the journalists of social information
The Association of the journalists of social information (AJIS) is an association created in 1967. It gathers social journalists belonging to all types of media: written press, radio, television, Internet site. Its manpower is of 330 members. The AJIS is a non-profit-making association (law 1901). Its office is composed of 6 members.
The AJIS was fixed for goal to help its members to preserve and improve their knowledge of the social matter. It organizes debates, mornings of formation, study trips in France and abroad, meetings with the social actors, economic and political.
40 years with Nicolas Sarkozy
To celebrate its 40 years of existence, the AJIS organized on September 18th, 2007 an event on the social one on the topic " Employment, health, ageing… building sites of demain". The President of the Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, invited, made an important speech there on these topics. The short speech of the President of the Republic was retransmise on line on the chain Public Senate and publicsenat.fr like on certain chains of continuous information. A plenary roundtable was also diffused on line on Public Senate.
History
In 1967, the founders of the AJIS are members of the Trade union of the Journalists of the Social movement. the first Trade union of French Professional Journalists, (born in 1905; become in 1922: Trade union of the Journalists of the Social movement; dissolved in 1975). The AJIS works towards its ends in the same spirit (mutual aid, co-operation, neutrality political and philosophical) and with the same goal: improvement of information to the service of the social progress.
