Association of the firemen of Montreal
The Association of the firemen of Montreal is the trade union which represents them: 2300 firemen and pompières of the town of Montreal to the Quebec.
Composition
This trade union is made up firemen, lieutenants and captains working within the Security service sets fire to Montreal.Following the example this profession, its members are as a majority of the men.
Organization

History
A precursory regrouping
It is in 1834 that was creates the Friendly Société of the Firemen of Montreal , entity having like objective to help the firemen of the town of Montreal.

First trade-union entity
The trade union was founded in 1918 as a local section of the International Association off Fire Fighters (IAFF).
In 1974, probably following the refusal of the American trade union to support the strike of the red weekend, the Association of the Firemen of Montreal becomes independent.
The red Weekend
October 31st at November 3rd, 1974, association carried out an illegal general strike in order to reverse an unfavorable award for its members.During this interval, more than 140 residences were set fire to by criminal hands, leading to the destruction of more than 131 buildings.
During the night of the 2 at November 3rd, 1974, an agreement was concluded between the president from the trade union, the mayor of Montreal Jean Drapeau and the Minister for Labor Jean Cournoyer at a meeting held at the head office of Hydro-Quebec to Montreal, where the offices of the were installed Prime Minister in the metropolis.
One will name this Grève the “ red weekend ”. Thereafter, the Association of the firemen of Montreal will be condemned to compensate the not fought victims of the fires, for more than one million dollars.
