Association for the respect of the site of the Mount Blanc

Presentation

The Association for the respect of the site of the Mont Blanc aims since 1991 to fight against the harmful effects generated by the traffic of the Heavy truck S in transit in the valley of Chamonix.

It has, since its creation, receipt the support of a majority of the inhabitants of the valley, many elected officials and more largely of French or European citizens sensitive to the crucial problem of the transport of the goods.

The objective of the association is to obtain a radical change of transport policy, as well at the national level as at the European level, with the transfer of the goods on the Rail the water and ways. This transfer will have to be accompanied by a total reflection on the utility of certain transport and their consequences on the economy, the Budget of the State, the Environnement and the Santé.

Objectives of association

Strict application of the existing regulations and generalization of controls on the heavy trucks, not only with the tunnel of the Mount Blanc, but also on the whole of the highway networks.

To incite the conveyers to use the existing railway capacities for the crossing of the the Alps.

To develop the Transport combined on the long distances. One cannot want to be satisfied to cross the alpine barrier by the rail while multiplying the number of trucks on all the other roads.

Prohibition with the heavy trucks to circulate the night in all the valleys of mountain. The pollution of a truck is 6 times more important the night, because the inversions of temperatures trap the pollutants in bottom of valleys.

Installation of a applicable Royalty heavy trucks on the whole of the highway network, in order to compensate for the costs generated by road transport (environmental damage, health expenditure, wear of the roads, cost of the accidents…).

Actions of association

Interpellation and dialog with the elected officials, buildings, regional, national, European.

Protests near the “decision makers”, including on the ground, demonstrations and blocking of trucks on the roads.

Information of the residents, consumer and road users on the misdeeds of road transport.

Participation in the development of alternative solutions, such as the installation of a Royalty heavy trucks on the Swiss model…
