The Association for a trade-union solidarity coed ( ADZE ) is a trade union studied Québécois founded in February 2001 with Sherbrooke which gathers more: 40000 students schoolboys and academics divided in 16 associations coeds members through the Quebec. By its values and its claims, the ADZE positions on the left than the other national student trade unions, the university Fédération coed of Quebec (FEUQ) and the Fédération collegial coed of Quebec (FECQ).

Philosophy

The ADZE asserts the school exemption from payment on all the levels and for all, the abolition of the student debt, the conservation of an education post-secondary of quality and the democratization of the educational establishments all while being opposed to the privatization of education.

She considers that the mobilization of mass can be a real engine of social change. She prefers the local general meetings like decisional authorities compared to the referendums, which she considers less democratic.

She also militates for a responsible taxation, the defense of the right of the minorities, the promotion of the Altermondialisation, demilitarization, the establishment of a development policy of the social housing and the inalienable right with the Dissidence.

The end of the week of the January 29th 2005, confronted with the refusal to negotiate of the Québécois Minister for education Pierre Reid on the subject of the reform of financial aid being studied, and vis-a-vis so that she considers being of the opposition to progress on behalf of FEUQ and the FECQ, the ADZE holds a congress with the Cégep of the St. Lawrence where she invites various associations non-member in order to create CASSÉÉ, the Coalition of Association for a Trade-union Solidarity Widened Coed. During February, the CASSÉÉ launches a series of Référendum S and general meetings bearing on the release of an unlimited general strike around three principal claims:

  1. the retroactive abolition of the reform of the Financial aid of Quebec;
  2. the abandonment of any project of decentralization and stowing at the market of the collegial network;
  3. the whole from the point of view of exemption from payment school and eradication of the student debt.

Thursday February 24th 2005, the first associations enter the strike movement. March 16th, 2005, one estimates at: 70000 the number of students members of BROKEN, on: 230000 students burdens some at this time, the others being in very vast majority (3/4) members of FEUQ and FECQ.

The CASSÉÉ is excluded from the table of the negotiations by new the Minister for Education Jean-Marc Fournier because of her refusal to condemn gestures violent ones posed within the framework of the strike movement. On its side, BROKEN supports that it is rather with an aim of dividing the studied movement that the minister drew aside it, because little time before the beginning of the strike coed, the February 16th 2005 with Montebello, of the students gathered on the initiative of the FEUQ and the FECQ forced the door of the Château Montebello with a ram to disturb a caucus Liberal party of Quebec, driving with a muscular reaction of the Safety of Quebec
