beginnings of the AJA. Emanation of the Patronage Saint-Joseph, the club of the Association of Auxerre-native Youth is founded in 1905 by the Abbé Deschamps. Under the crook of the man of the church, a.J.A. obtains honourable results quickly, becoming one of the bastions of the very catholic F.G.S.P.F. In 1908, the AJA disputes even the finale of the championship of France F.G.S.P.F., but inclines 8-1 vis-a-vis Parisian Olier Patronage. At the end of the First World War, a.J.A. is expelled of the ground which it occupied in Ocreries. The Deschamps abbot then makes the acquisition of many pieces of ground along Yonne on the road of Are worth (future Stade of the Abbot-Deschamps). A such medieval abbey, a.J.A. did not have of cease, since this date, to make bear fruit this capital… Today, the AJA is the only club of League 1 owner of its stage.

  • 1905 : the Deschamps Abbot deposits in prefecture the statutes of a new association, of which the goal is to frame youth thanks to the sporting practice. The Association of Auxerre-native Youth is officially created the December 29th 1905. It is about a club omnisport, gathering various disciplines such as Gymnastique, Escrime, Athlétisme…

  • 1906 : creation of the section football. The team plays in black until 1908.
  • 1918 : a.J.A. takes part in the first Coupe de France.

  • 1929 : a.J.A. is champion of Yonne.

  • 1949 : death of the Deschamps Abbot, on December 1st. Its name is given at the stage of the road of Are worth the following year.

  • 1952 : Guy Roux signs her first license with a.J.A., in tiny team.

  • 1961 : Guy Roux becomes trainer-player.

  • 1970 : a.J.A. reaches the championship of France Amateur.

  • 1974 : the club reaches the championship of France of the 2nd division.

  • 1979 : a.J.A. reaches the national fame by reaching with the general surprise the final of the Coupe de France, being inclined only in prolongation (1-4) vis-a-vis the vice-champion of Division 1, Nantes.

  • 1980 : a.J.A. reaches in the first division.

  • 1984 : the club is qualified for a European cut (UEFA) for the first time and is inclined with the first turn (0-2, 2-2) vis-a-vis Sporting Lisbon.

  • 1993 : a.J.A. eliminates in quarterfinal from UEFA Cup Ajax Amsterdam, holding of the title (4-2, 1-0).

  • 1993 : In spite of the goals of Verlaat and Martins, a.J.A. is inclined with the shootings with the goals in semi-final of UEFA Cup vis-a-vis Borussia Dortmund (0-2, 2-0, 5 with the shootings with the goals with 6).

  • 1994 : a.J.A. gains its first Coupe de France by beating Montpellier 3-0.

  • 1996 : a.J.A. gains its first championship of France and realizes doubled by beating Nimes 2-1 finally Coupe de France.

  • 2003 : a.J.A gains its third Coupe de France by beating the PSG 2-1, with two goals in the 10 last minutes

  • 2005 : A.J.A. is eliminated by the CSKA Moscow in UEFA Cup, gaining future (0-4, 2-0).

  • 2005 : a.J.A gains vis-a-vis Sedan its fourth Coupe de France over the score of 2-1 thanks to a goal of Bonaventure Kalou at the last minute of play.

  • 2006 : The Challenge Guy Roux, kind of jubilee, is organized in homage to Guy Roux. It is held on May 16th.

  • 2006 : in conflict with its leaders for several months, the contract of Jacques Santini has been terminated on May 16th after only one season with the bar of the team first.

The team comprises the international ones such as Thomas Kahlenberg, Stephan Gritching, Daniel Niculae and Ireneusz Jelen.

The matches proceed with the Stade of the Abbot-Deschamps, located in the bottom of Auxerre, along the Yonne, close to the park of the Dry Tree and the carpark of the Valley. The stage comprises 23.467 sitted places. The current groups of Auxerre-native supporters (Blue Angels and the Auxerre Extremists) are placed in the platform Leclerc Bas. This platform gathers some 400 faithful supporters active.
