Asshole

See also: Asshole, CCT

The Asshole , also called CCT , Trouduc , President , Hole of bottom (Quebec) as Grand tramp is a Board game in the form of generally being played Card deck with four players or more, with a set of 54 charts.

Goal of the play

The goal of each player is to get rid as soon as possible of the totality of its charts. The players having been fastest to get rid of their charts are entitled to an advantage for the following part and conversely slowest will see themselves penalized by a handicap. The interest of this play is thus to connect several parts after in order to seeing the players evolving/moving (or not) in the classification.

Order of the charts

The order of the charts is the following, of weakest with strongest: 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, Servant, Lady, King, Ace, 2, Joker (the place of the 2 and the Joker depends on the rules and the alternatives which one applies).

To note that if one plays with a small number of charts (32 per 4; 30 per 3), it is of use to keep the order: 7,8,9,10, Servant, Lady, King, Ace.

Two methods are distinguished with regard to the colors:

- The order of the colors is square < clover < heart < spade

- The color of a chart (heart, square, clover, spade) does not have importance.

Course of a part

The first part

At the beginning of the first part, there is no hierarchy between the players, all start equal. One distributes a number equal of charts to each player, the possible charts in excess being put on side.

The part proceeds in the following way:

  • One plays in the direction of the needles of a watch,

  • the player coming after the player who distributed starts,
  • the player poses from one to four charts same value,
  • the player who follows can decide is to pass his turn (it cannot then play any more until the end of the fold in progress), that is to say to play, or to equalize if this last is the hole-of-bottom . According to the alternative chosen, it must is to go up (it must in this case pose a number of charts identical to the fold posed on the table but posting a higher value; thus a pair of 10 must be followed at least by a pair of servants), that is to say to pose a fold of value equal or higher,
  • When all the players successively passed their turn, the player having played in the last begins a new turn with the combination of its choice,
  • Généralement chart 2 is the strongest chart. But in many alternatives, chart 2 can be used only as complement (thus 3 of spade + 3 of clover + 2 of clover constitutes a brelan of 3) and it is then impossible to use only of the 2.
  • If the charts of at least 3 players are followed, these last three can jetter then a chart of their choice.

At the end of the part, one gives a title to two the best and to the two worse players:

  • the first player having succeeded in getting rid of all its charts becomes the President ,

  • the second player having finished becomes the Vice-Président ,
  • When one plays five, the third player having finished is the neutral player and has neither of advantage, nor of handicap for the following part.
  • the last but one player having finished is Vice-Hole of the bottom ,
  • the last player is the Asshole .
(When one names sobrement the play President , names become President, Prime Minister, Ouvrier and Tramp…)

When one plays three players, first is President, second is Neutre and the third is the asshole.

PS: As soon as a person finishes her package, the last chart which was played is illiminée.

The second part (and the following ones)

Starting from the second part of a series, the following adjustments are made once the distributed charts:

  • the Asshole gives to the President his two better charts; in return, this one gives him its two worse charts,

  • the Vice-Hole of the bottom gives to the Vice-Président his best chart; in return, this one gives him its worse chart.
  • the neutral player , if there is one of them, does not give any chart and does not receive any.

The part proceeds then in a way identical to the initial part.

At the end of the part, one distributes the titles again, as explained in the preceding section.

It is of use that to each row a place is allotted around the table. At the end of each part, each player replaces himself according to the row to which it finished. (Example: that which finishes President will be placed on the seat of the President , that which finishes Asshole will be placed on the seat of the Asshole etc…)

Alternatives

The rules of the asshole are adaptable. Here some examples of the alternatives:

13 charts

Alternative with 4 players and 52 charts thus 13 charts per anybody from where the name of the play.

2 with the strongest value.

The colors have an order (weaker with most extremely): Square, Clover, Heart, Spade. Thus the 2 of Spade is the strongest chart and the 3 of the weakest Square.

One can play one 4 of Heart out of one 4 of Square .

One can pose from 1 to 3 identical charts, but not 4. On the other hand, one can pose combinations of 5 charts. These combinations come from the poker (of weakest with most extremely):

  • Suite (5 charts which is followed)
  • Couleur (5 charts of the same color)
  • Full (a brelan and a pair)
  • Carré (4 identical charts + a chart)
  • Flush (5 charts which follows same color)

As with the simple combinations (1, 2 or 3 charts) one can play an identical combination. For that, one looks at the strongest chart of the combination.

One can play a color 3-4-5-6-King of spade on 8-10-Servant-Lady-King of square .

On the other hand, for Full one looks at Brelan and for the Square one does not take into account not the chart alone.

The part proceeds without board swapping at the beginning, until a player poses his 13 charts.

The other players count their charts then and add as many points to their score.

The " doublette" is the penalty for the players having 10 charts or more the number of points to be added is multiplied by 2.

There is also ultimate humiliation the " triplette" for the players not having posed charts the number of points to be added is then of 13 X 3 = 39 points.

The English Channel is played in 50pts, 100pts, 150pts,… or until the end of the night. The sleeve is finished when a player reached the 50,100 or 150 points. The big winner is thus that which has the weakest score.

The strategy is reinforced by the presence of the combinations of 5 charts: " must one keep its (its) (which) combination (S) and to be likely to be caught a doublette? "

Jokers

The use of the jokers of a set of 54 charts can allow a better rotation of the roles in the play. The principle is that the simple joker can be placed any time, including at the time of a play in double or triple. It allows the player having placed it to recover the hand and to set out again on a new card trick. These charts are not exchangeable, which means that the Asshole preserves the jokers which it acquires at the time of the distribution.

The Joker can be also seen allocating a special function: it cannot be played only, it must be used in complement of one or several charts to form a pair (two of the same charts value), a brelan (three of the same charts value), a square (four of the same charts value) or a poker (five of the same charts value).

Continuations

According to this alternative it is possible at the time of its turn to pose a whole of consecutive charts, in the same way one can pose a whole of doubles or triple consecutive at the time of a play in double or triple. That causes to instigate the play and intensifies the strategic aspect.

Tabula Shaved

Certain alternatives of the rule authorize, if there is more than four players, to play of the charts of value equal to those posed on the tables (one 3 on one 3, instead of going up automatically). If all charts of the same value are posed on table (for example if four players after played a servant or two players after a pair servant), there is Tabula Rasa : the player having put the last chart recovers the hand and the play sets out again on a new card trick. This rule does not apply squared. This rule adds a strategic aspect some at the time of the turns to a chart.

The 2 cross

When one 2 is played (or a pair-brelan-square of 2), nobody any more can play, even while placing another 2. The player having placed the 2 recovers the hand and one sets out again on a new lathe of play. This rule supports the president and the vice-president by increasing the value of 2, qu ' they generally recover. This rule cannot apply if one plays with Jokers.

The negotiation

During the exchanges at the beginning of part, it is a question for the exchanging of agreeing on the charts of the exchange. That allows for example the President which would have triple or quadruple in low cards to preserve them, and to offer to the Asshole a choice of higher charts during the exchange. If no negotiation is possible, the players rely on the traditional exchange of best and less good charts.

Free the or double one

When two players pose successively the same values of charts (for example twice a double king), the following player must put exactly the same thing (a double king in fact). If it cannot, then it passes its turn, which does not prevent to him from being able to play again when its turn returns in the fold in progress. If this 3rd player could pose the same charts that the two precedents, it is with the turn of the fourth player to have to play the same thing, and so on.

The revolution

If a player poses a square, there is a revolution and the value of the charts is reversed. The 3 becomes the best chart and 2 the least good, until the end of the part in progress. With the next part the charts take again their normal value. The squares are rare but the Asshole is that which has the most chance to have it, and is also that which will profit more revolution . It is possible to make against revolution by posing on the table another square during the play. The order becomes again then the initial order.

There exists an alternative in which there is revolution if a player poses a brelan of 5 or of 6.

The putsch

The putsch is a chance left with the asshole of being able to leave itself its condition: when this one, after distribution of the charts and before any exchange, considers that it has a sufficiently strong play to manage to finish President if an abusive exchange is not imposed to him, it can launch a putsch and consequently, everyone preserves its charts (not exchanges between the asshole and the President, nor between the vice president and asshole vice). The " putschiste" then begin the part with for only and single goal to become President! All the part turns besides around this precise goal since a missed putsch has very strong consequences: if putschiste misses its putsch (i.e. if it does not finish President), it takes again office his condition of asshole; in the same way, all the other players find the position which they had before the putsch is not launched (the former President does not have indeed to pay the audacity of a badly warned asshole and must for this reason find its place, since this part is regarded to some extent as except phase… On the other hand, nothing prevents the others from leaguing to make so that the putschist finishes president and détrôner thus the former tyrant). The part can thus be stopped since the first player to be gotten rid of all his charts is not the putschist himself, thus meaning the failure of this last. With the next part, the asshole is then sanctioned for its attempt at missed putsch: it is thus condemned to give its 4 better charts to the President, and this last gives him the 4 charts of its choice. The vice president and the vice asshole exchange the charts as with the normal (i.e. only one). The part takes again its normal course then. As much to say that if the putsch is certainly a possible solution offered to the asshole to free itself from its disadvantaged condition, it is to be used with temperance because of strong sanction which it is likely to involve in the event of failure. Last precision: of course, it appears logical that the asshole which missed its putcsh again cannot putscher before a turn, so that it cannot avoid the sanction of its missed putsch.

With a play of Tarot

It is possible to play with a play of tarot. The rule is the same one for the normal charts. For the assets, it is also necessary to go up on the preceding player but the pair of charts is replaced by two consecutive assets, the third by three consecutive assets and the square by four consecutive assets.

  • the excuse makes it possible to undoubtedly gain the fold (all alone, it makes it possible to gain on any pair, third or square).

  • the 1 and the 21 makes it possible to replace any chart in the play.
  • This rule is generally combined with the rule of the revolution. It is then easy to exchange the direction of the charts by supplementing a third (or three consecutive assets) with the 1 or 21 of asset.

Other alternatives

Many other alternatives are possible.

; Several plays instead of only one: The increased number of charts makes it possible to lengthen the duration of the parts, to have more players, to allow more variety in the combinations and brings an additional element of strategy (for example, if a player has six of the same charts value, it can decide to play them all at the same time or in small groups). ; More than five players: When the number of players is even, all the players exchange charts; when it is odd, all except that " milieu". ; Social position: In addition to the board swapping, one can decide to allot various advantages and penalties according to the position of the player in the play (obligation to sit down by ground for the obligation, asshole to address as vous the president, etc)
