Asseor

This word should not be confused with Assesseur !

Under the Old Mode, a asseor was, in each parish, that which was charged to sit the tax, in other words to determine its Assiette , i.e. to distribute the goods and incomes on which the size is " assise" , calculated.

• In country of " cut personnelle" , the collector-asséeur ensured only the plate and the collection.

• In country of " cut réelle" , the collector was not asseor since the distribution was fixed by the Compoix.

In certain old texts, the term meets in the form " asseyeur " or " assoyeur ", in Lorraine, for example.

- “ Poker of all the inhabitants who compose the community of Dombrot old Bouzey, and who are taxpaying for the year 1744, carrying the sum of… of 1800 pounds, whose the present declaration was put ez hands of François Réduit, Dominique Rémy Dorget and Nicolas Chavoy, all the three assoyeurs selected with pluralitez voices, drawn from the 3 classes, high, average and low in body of community according to the ordinance of its majesty, to make of it the distribution on all the taxpayers, the fort helping the weak one after having taken and received their oath just as celuy of the collector. ”

- In 1781, with Villers-with-Winds, to satisfy the ordinances sent by the " lords, the president and advisers of the Room of the Accounts and Court of the Assistances of the Duchy of Bar" , two separated roles, of each one a unquestionable Pied of one hundred books (establish by the mayor) were to be used for the three " asseyeurs " elected officials and chosen by the inhabitants, for the distribution.
