In
criminal Law, one defines the
assassination like a Meurtre envisaged and prepared by its author (whom one then describes as
assassin ). He thus supposes the Préméditation, i.e. decision making to kill others and the reflection on the implementation of this decision.
This crime, when it is perpetrated towards a great number of people by an organization, is described as assassination of mass (if there are no particular selection criteria of the victims, or if these criteria are multiple) or of Génocide, if the criterion is primarily ethnic.
Etymology
A disputed explanation makes derive the word
assassin from
Hashâchine , which was the name of a Secte of the
the Middle East, also called Nizârite. It is said that the members of this sect were conditioned by their chief to kill under the influence of Haschich, from where their name.
