Assérac

Assérac is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique. It is thus a Breton commune, although this department was detached from historical Brittany by a decree of the Pétain Marshal of 1941.

The inhabitants of the commune are called the Asseracais and Asseracaises .

Geography

The common bordering to Assérac are Herbignac, Saint-Molf, Mesquer in the Loire-Atlantique, and Pénestin, Camoël and Férel in the Morbihan.

Assérac has several beaches and a large bay (bay of Bridge-Mahé) known of the practitioners of the sliding sports.

  • Olivier Guichard, principal private secretary of De Gaulle and minister, had a residence with Asserac in the locality Ker Olivier. The place of the church bears now its name.
