Asphalt Jungle is a group of Punk French formed in 1977. Its name refers to The Asphalt Jungle , title original of the film When the city sleeps carried out by John Huston.

The group

Formed by the critic rock'n'roll Patrick Eudeline and the Guitarist Rikki Darling following a scenic appearance of Eudeline animated with Noisy-the-Dryness (jet of beer quills by the public), it is about one of the first French punk groups.

The group is the author of three individual (the first Déconnexion , the second Planté like private a in 1977, and the third Polly Magoo in 1978) and pieces which were reproduced on compilations (in particular Skydog “Commando” and the Rock from here in Olympia EMI). The rhythm section evolved/moved throughout the history of the group, with the passage of future Gazolines, Desperados and Métal Urbain.

Marked by The Clash, The Velvet Underground, The Stooges or Kim Fowley, of the French like Ronnie Bird or Hector and its Médiators, then by The Flamin' Groovies or the New York Frauds, this group is one of the first to have made a success of the adaptation of the French to the form (punk) rock'n'roll in France. Asphalt Jungle will take part besides in the second edition of the festival Punk of Mount-with-Marsan in 1977.

Individual the Polly Magoo is regarded as one of best of the punk scene of the time.

Dissolution and Continuation

The group east dissolves in 1979.

Patrick Eudeline is a figure of the scene rock'n'roll in France, Rock'n'roll-critic, singer and musician he is the only survivor of the group (death by overdose, suicide, disappearance for the others). He continued a “career” of critical rock'n'roll, in particular to Best then Rock & Folk , Nova Magazine , left an individual solo As of tomorrow in 1982, as well as an album with the Myriam singer in 1995. He is currently writer, author of This century will have your skin , Dansons under the bombs , Gonzo (collection of articles) violent Soucoupes , and prefaces a collection of photographs on the Gothic movement ( Goth ).

He occurs still occasionally on scene with Paris.

An album left in March 2006 " Bad étoile" (at Suave), an album that criticism seems to have appreciated (Rock & Folk, Inrocks or the English magazine Q). A video clip of the piece " Bad étoile" was realized by Virginia Despentes, Daniel Darc made there an appearance.
