Aspergillus clavatus

Aspergillus clavatus is a frequent host of the ground, his maintenance on a cultivated ground depends on the rotation. Develops mainly on corn, corn, alfalfa, soya, oats, rice, matters in decomposition (high nitrogen content preferably).

Aspergillus clavatus produces a Mycotoxine: the Patuline or Clavicine. Its effects appear by congestive lesions on the level of the lungs, kidneys and spleen; but incidentally, it causes a degeneration of the neurons of the cerebral cortex, from where can result various nervous symptoms (paralysis, etc…). Also responsible for Hyperkératose in the Bovidae and the pigs.
