Asnières-on-Oise

Asnières-on-Oise is a commune of the department of the Val-d'Oise in area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants names Asnièrois (be).

Geography

The commune is located at 30 km in the north of Paris, on Right Bank of the Oise, on the northern slope of the Butte-témoin carrying the Forêt of Carnelle. South of the territory included a fraction of the forest (max. altitude: 210 m) and principal agglomeration; the northern half of the territory is composed of cultivated fields, wood and marsh.

The Ysieux and the Thève are thrown in Oise in the north of the territory of the commune, near the Abbaye of Royaumont. The common one counts two variations: the small hamlet of the Limes and especially the hamlet of Muzzle, in edge of the Forest of Chantilly and with the limit of the Department of Oise (allotment of luxury of the Lily-Chantilly).

Asnières-on-Oise is accessible by RN 1 then D 909 or the Gare from Viarmes, on the Transilien Paris-North, located at two kilometers.

The commune is bordering on: Viarmes, Lamorlaye, Noisy-on-Oise, Saint-Martin-of-Hillock, Chaumontel, Heather-on-Oise and Boran-on-Oise.

History

The village draws its name from Latin Asinarium , stud farm of asses.

Possession of the Abbey of Saint-Denis in 907 as an act of king Robert attests some, the village is already at that time a borough structured with a church and a royal castle. In 1223, the inhabitants obtain from the king Louis VIII several franknesses, of which right to elect a mayor and to have a seal. His/her son holy Louis decides the establishment of a Cistercian abbey in 1228 in the isolated marshes, near Oise. In April 1339, Philippe VI of Valois concedes with the abbey the main part of the royal possessions of Asnières.

Under the Old Mode, the village concerns évêché Beauvais. At the 19th century, the commune saw primarily culture of the Asperge S, Potato or of the meadows. At that time a shy person modernization begins from the village with the appearance of some small industries. Asnières-on-Oise is nowadays a small residential and agricultural commune.

The commune is member of the Regional natural park Oise-Country of France.
