Asilah
Asilah , in Spanish Arcila and Portuguese Arzila , is a port of the North of the Morocco of approximately: 30000 inhabitants, to forty kilometers of Tangier, in the area of Tangier-Tétouan.
It was initially a Carthaginian city, then Roman. In 1471, it knew an important invasion, which marked its history: nearly 500 vessels and: 30000 soldiers Portuguese conquered it and transformed it into a commercial and strategic counter important.
Asilah was built at the 15th century by the Portuguese, then fell to the hands from the Spanish , until its capture in 1589 by the Sultan Saadien Ahmed el-Mansour. The Spaniards took again possession of it later, but it was this time conquered by Moulay Ismaïl Ben Chérif in 1691. Its bombardment by the Austrian army in 1829 allowed the installation and the installation of a Spanish Protectorat until 1956.
