Asiatic Society off Calcutta

The Asiatic Society of Calcutta or The Royal Asiatic Society off Bengal was founded by William Jones on January 15th, 1784 with Calcutta, the capital of the the British Indies, in order to promote and to reinforce the cause of research in the East.
