Ashraf Qazi

Ashraf Jehangir Qazi (1942-) is the special representative of the general secretary of UNO in Iraq. Former Pakistani diplomat, it was named by the general secretary of UNO, Kofi Annan, in July 2004. Its predecessor, Sergio Vieira of Mello, was killed in a bombardment on August 19th, 2003.

Biography

He is Irish by his mother, Jennifer. She resides now in Balochistan, Pakistan. He is married and has two children.

He was ambassador of the Pakistan in the since September 2002 United States.

Previously, he was high commissioner of Pakistan in India (since 1997), ambassador in China (1994-97), in Russia (1991-94), in East Germany (1990-91) and Syria (1986-88).

He also had diplomatic tasks with Copenhagen, with Tokyo, the Cairo, Tripoli and London.
