Description

The ascocoryne sarcoïde is a mushroom whose fruit-bearing body of red color purple (to 0,1-1,5 cm), develops at the young state, in a kind of small irregularly lobed gathering several individuals and having the appearance of a small brain, sessile tuber or on a short stalk. Then it grows (1,5 to 3 cm) and takes the shape of a small reversed cone which levelled and is transformed into irregular and lobed cup with the margin. Its flesh is gelatinous and does not have particular odor. It pushes mainly on the stocks and branches pourrissantes of leafy trees (particularly of the beeches), of the autumn until the middle of the winter.
