Asclépiades

In the ancient Greece, the Asclépiades designate various families dedicated to the exercise of the medicine.
They claimed to go down from the god Asclépios by his son Podalire, from where their names. There was of Asclépiades with Épidaure, with Rhodos, Cnide and Cos. Hippocrates belonged to one of these families. The known doctor of Prussia under the name of Asclépiade de Bithynie had undoubtedly taken this name only in remembering this family.
