Ascalon
Ascalon or Ashkelon (in Hebrew: אַשְׁקְלוֹן ašqelōn, in Arab: عسقلان ašqalan, in Latin: Ascalo, in Greek: Ασχαλων, Askalōn) balneal city of: 107900 inhabitants in Israel in the Southern District, in the north of the Gaza Strip, on the Mediterranean coast. It is located at 64 km in the south of Tel-Aviv.
History
The old city of Ascalon was one of the five capitals of the Philistins of the name of Ascalon rather often returns in the Bible (for example Amos 1,8).

This cranium would have been transferred to the Cairo in another mechhed. In August 1099, the Cross , under the command of Godefroi de Bouillon, besieges the city. They temporarily take it with the Fatimides in 1102, but the fortress resists until in 1153. It is only on this date that the city is truly integrated into the Royaume of Jerusalem by Baudouin III. The naval battle of Ascalon , confirms the maritime domination of Venice on Constantinople in 1126.
The city is taken again by Saladin in 1187. The fortress is shaven not to fall between the hands from Richard Lion-hearted king d' Angleterre. The king of England takes Ascalon and Jaffa, negotiates at Saladin the free access of the pilgrims to Jerusalem and turns over to England in 1192. In 1270, the sultan Mamelouk Baybars shaves the city completely.
Today, some Palestinians assert the territory of the Israeli city of Ascalon because it is built on the ruins of a named Arab city Al-Majdal (Arab: المَجْدَل Al-majdal) whose population gradually was expelled or fled of 1948 to 1951.
