Asaret of Canada
The asaret of Canada ( Asarum canadense ) is a herbaceous, perennial, rhizomateuse plant of the family of the Aristolochiacée S. It is originating in the forests of the east of the North America. It is called also wild ginger because the flavor and the taste of the rhizome are close to those of the Gingembre but these two plants belong to different families. One can use it as spice but it is also powerful diurétique.
The asaret of Canada prefers a shaded exposure on humus soil. Its sheets, nonpersistent, in the shape of heart, are opposite. In the middle of the two sheets which appear each year, are born the curious solitary flowers, in the shape of jug, of the wild ginger.
With the garden of ornament, this plant can be used in floor covering in the parts in the shade.
